Was bored and decided to engage someone today on Houseparty. During the conversation I was buttressing the fact that we can beat this virus if we just follow the government safety measures and stay at home for the stipulated time.
I was thinking it was just that easy to stay home and stay safe until I started listening to what the lady has to stay. During the conversation I knew I erred because I realized that I have lost touch of what it meant to be a common Nigeria.
I know I am not alone in this thought because some of us are so blessed and so comfortable that our basic need is how to increase our savings and live that comfortable life. But to the common Nigerian man that has to drive Okada, push wheel-barrow,
To that woman that has to sell Akara and ogi in the street, that young barber just down the street and to that taxi driver, having a large saving is not his target at the moment,Survival is!!! The truth is that most Nigerians live from hand to mouth and they rely on what they make
Per day to feed. So the question is not stock up and Stay inside but stock up with what ????? How will this people stay alive? How will they provide for their family?
Now the FG are not ashamed to announce that they have given 5000 family the sum of #20000 as relieve package🤦‍♂️a country with over 200 million people with over 80% poor populations.Even countries will lower populations and lower poverty index are doing better!!!
Let’s not kid our self, this stay at home is not sustainable for an average Nigeria because many will not stay at home and watch their children starve!!! The lock down Is just chaos waiting to happen not because the intension of the government is bad but because
The Nigerian people has not been given the right condition to make this sustainable! It doesn’t look like things will be better over the next few week with the look of how #COVID19Pandemic is going so far. My only question now is, what is the hope of a common man ????
Stay at home and starve to death or come out and risk being infected???! I guess the next few weeks will tell!
