My workload is off the scale at the moment.

This is an interesting time to work with street homelessness. We can offer everyone accommodation which is a dream come true for workers in the sector. But at the same time, life has never been so scary and difficult on the street.
Then there are huge challenges once people are into accommodation.

Food is having to be delivered to hotels daily, scripts are having to be issued as begging revenue for heroin has dried up, pharmacies who will provide methadone are thin on the ground.
Meaningful MH support is inaccessible. I hope that people on depo injections can still get them.

Forced hotel accommodation has disrupted the community found on the street. People are lonely and being separated from their friends and dogs.
This is not being done from a desire to end rough sleeping. It’s a disease control measure. When this is all over, people will likely be sent back to the streets.
When I clapped last night, it was also for all the frontline workers putting their health at risk by working 14 hour days to accommodate and feed entrenched rough sleepers
