/6When I saw this coming back in January, I decided to ramp up my garden plans. Instead of just herbs and flowers, I spent what very little money I got from my income tax refund on raised cedar beds, a cheap greenhouse, seeds, a truck full of dirt etc...fortunately I ordered
/6Early because now its getting harder to get gardening supplies. I got a bunch of free pallets & filled them with strawberries. I was hoping to use the wood to build a chicken coop, but I don't have enough & everyone panic bought all the chicks. Regardless, I will be producing
/6More food than my family & I can eat, so my plan is to hopefully be able to feed others in my community as this disaster continues. IF we get any money from the government, I'll be using it to pay my mortgage so I don't lose my 2.5 acres, AND đŸ€ž - scaling up food production.
/6I'd still like to get a hold of some chickens if I can get a coop and some feed, as well as maybe some milking goats. Again, I would need the out buildings & feed. I'm writing this to encourage as many as I can to seriously consider suburban small scale farming & permaculture
/6Because I believe that this emergency is going to go on for a long time. I think we need to be prepared for a depression and being prepared makes everything less scary and more hopeful. If I'm wrong, great! If not...then focusing on these kind of activities may be the best
/6 prep for not only our own families, but for taking care of our neighbors, communities and those most vulnerable among us. Look...we're all stuck home anyway. The weather is getting nice. Even if it's just some pots on your patio...consider growing some food. Best wishes!😊
