Y’all don’t know nothing bout’ a Remix til you heard one that sound like a whole new song 🔥 Artists use to jump back in the studio & come out with a whole new hit, & just about a whole new video, they don’t do it like this no more:
Let’s Get Married Vs. Let’s Get Married (Remix) 🔥 Jagged Edge’s Original song was more smooth & slowed with some amazing vocals, then they dropped a whole missile on our heads with the remix feat. Run DMC and that legendary beat of theirs
Not Tonight Vs. Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix) 🌹 The original track was an album cut on Lil Kim’s debut that was an explicit, nasty slow jam but the remix was a sliding, club anthem featuring Brat, Left Eye & Angie and a Kool & The Gang sample
I Need A Girl (Part 1) Vs. I Need A Girl (Part 2)🔥 Part 1 was very chill & some to cruise to w/ Usher on the track then Part 2 came along with some stank on it, a sick beat, sanging from Ginuwine and Mario Winans & a rap verse from Loon perfect for the club
Best Of Me (Part 1) Vs. Best Of Me (Part 2)🌹 Part 1 was your regular smegular R&B bop that became a hit w/ tight feature by Jadakiss but Myá got a hold to Jay Z for Part 2 & got an even bigger hit, with an addictive HipHop beat & 🔥 vocals
Separated Vs. Separated (Remix) 🔥 Many love the original silky smooth hit version but he got Kelly Rowland and gave us a whole duet with a whole different sound for the remix
Friend Of Mine Vs. Friend Of Mine (Remix) 🌹 Kelly Price showed tf out in the original, pulling out the church vocals straight from the gut and turned around & released a smooth, laid back remix w/ the legendary Ron Isley
Love In This Club Vs Love In This Club (Part 2) 🔥 Usher gave us a memorable hit featuring Jeezy for the radio & club but if ya remember, he slowed things down & called up Beyoncé & Lil Wayne for a more slow jam approach in Part 2
Anything Vs. Anything (Remix) 🌹 SWV opened their debut album with the angelic, quiet storm original & then tapped Wu Tang Clan for the Remix which became one of the hottest R&B/HipHop collabs of the 90s
You’re All I Need Vs. You’re All I Need (Razor Sharp Remix) 🔥 In the original hit, you hear more of the Marvin/Tammi sample but that remix? They put they foot in it, giving it a more gritty, head noddin’ HipHop presence
Bootylicious Vs. Bootylicious (Remix)🌹 We all know the original pop hit of Destiny’s Child but the girls hopped back in the studio w/ Missy and switch the whole joint up with something more R&B
In My Bed Vs. In My Bed (So So Def Remix) 🔥 Dru Hill is known to have soulful slow jams & ballads, which the original hit song became but JD & Brat slid through in the studio giving it a head noddin’ beat & the group adding new vocals and switching up the rhythm
Heartbreaker Vs. Heartbreaker (Remix) 🌹Mariah Carey dropper the Original Version that was more Pop w/ a rap verse from Jay Z, then she hit us with a remix feat. Da Brat & Missy, sampling a nasty, classic Snoop song “Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Can’t Have None)”
Stutter Vs. Stutter (Remix)🔥 The original hit was more chill & laid back then Joe enlisted Mystikal as a feature & did a whole diff. production for the song, giving it a whole new vibe & grittiness
Breakup 2 Makeup Vs. Breakup 2 Makeup (Blackchild Remix) 🌹 Ashanti didn’t release the nostalgic original that had the vibe of the songs our parents listened to growing up but she did release the HipHop infused remix feat. Blackchild In he 2000s
It’s All About The Benjamin’s Vs. It’s All About The Benjamin’s(Remix) 🔥 Diddy’s original hit is mostly known & it had all the right HipHop ingredients w/ Kim, Big, The Lox on deck but there was actually a Remix, a ROCK remix that was hella turnt w/ a Prom Themed Music Video
So Into You Vs. Into You (Remix) 🌹 Tamia 1998 hit was so smooth & angelic but she came back years later to drop a remix in 2004 with a more 🔥 beat, more vocals & a feature from Fabolous
Life’s A Bitch 🔥 The legendary rapper Nas, released this hit w/ AZ that was very laid back, bump while you cruise around record but there was also a remix that had a whoooole different sample, beat, everything! 🚬
I Wanna Be Down Vs. I Wanna Be Down (Remix) 🌹 Brandy’s Original hit put her on a successful musical career & she did something that you didn’t see too much then & that was having 3 rappers featured on an R&B song at once, especially not all female (YoYo, Mc Lyte, & Latifah)
Girlfriend Vs. Girlfriend (Remix) 🔥 The hitmaking boy band, B2K dropped the slowed down, laid back original but only the real ones remember the remix that was more for the club, and had some umph in it
Ain’t It Funny Vs. Ain’t It Funny (Remix) 🌹 The Original hit had more of a Latin Pop feel but she shook us with the remix while she sung the verses in between, Ja Rule & Cadillac Tah rapped, Ashanti on the Chorus & Background and the Flava In Ya Ear sample all was just 🔥
Only You Vs. Only You (Remix) 🌹 112 is another perfect example of an original and remix BOTh becoming hits. The original was soothing & relaxing but then they came out with the Remix 😩 with that beat and biggie on board, it was a bop
Right Here Vs. Right Here (Human Nature Remix) 🌹 SWV very first single was the original, which was more for the club scene in the 90s but hooked up with Teddy Riley for the remix, whilst MJ let them sample Human Nature for free and it became a massive hit
Idc, making a brand new song from your original song will always be the true definition of a Remix to me 🤷🏾‍♂️
Boys Vs. Boys (Neptunes Remix) 🌹 Don’t be fooled, even the pop artists was on that wave too. Britney Spears hit song got LACED by The Neptunes for the Remix & it blew up even more. Listen to the difference 😩
I Like It Vs. I Like It (Remix) 🔥 Even little ol Sammie when he first started in the 2000s was hopping on the REAL Remix train, having a slow jam energy in the first & then speeding it up for the club for the remix
Real Love Vs. Real Love (Remix) 🌹 SWV, Mariah and MARY J. BLIGE were what I like to call, the Founders Of Remixes like these. Mary was in the early 90s with the shhh 🔥🔥
Truth be told, if I was a artist, I wouldn’t waste my time releasing a remix if it’s not a whole new song. Not after being raised on all the remixes above 😩 This will forever be an iconic wave 🔥
