🚨🚨🚨 #PantryMarchMadness FIRST ROUND VOTING THREAD:

Congrats to crackers, pickles, peanuts and roasted red peppers for surviving the play-in games. They all have tough roads ahead.

24 hours to vote. Pick what you can't live without in your pantry while you #FlattenTheCurve! https://twitter.com/DavidPomerantz/status/1245205964174721024
First to the GRAINS/LEGUMES region. Perennial powerhouse pasta should be a lock; let's see if crackers can give it a contest.
Battle of the Beans Part I.
Chickpeas' 13 seed has been one of the most controversial choices in the Pantry Bracket. Would this even count as an upset if they win? But lentils' versatility is legendary. Could be close.
Ghost of Bread Past vs. Ghost of Bread Future. Could the cooks-who-hate-baking out there give breadcrumbs chance at an upset?
In what form do you prefer your white rice as you contemplate the federal government's historic and tragic failure to protect Americans?
Battle of the Beans Part II
The Whole Grain Bowl
Brutal match-up to finish out the region. Either of these could make a run at the Final Four in many brackets, and they face off in the first round!
On to the NUTS + FISH (+ CHOCOLATE?) region:

This one feels kind of dark and tragic. Peanut Butter's a real title contender. Maybe there's a Vitamix Mafia out there who can have their cake and eat it too, and swing this for the peanuts?
Tahini's versatility goes up against cashews' snackability.
Another nut vs. butter first-round matchup. This time the nuts get the top seed.
Tinned Fish Death Match, Part I.

Probably the toughest choice in my whole first round bracket. Sorry to the vegetarians out there, you can get your vengeance over the winner in the second round.
Everyone stay diplomatic with this one, I beg of you.
Another gloriously chocolatey matchup. Cocoa powder definitely has the versatility edge, but Nutella... is Nutella.
Tinned Fish Death Match, Part II
Couple of satisfying snacks face off to round out the nuts/fish/chocolate region.
Onward to the OILS/VINEGARS/CONDIMENTS region, where Olive Oil has people asking controversial questions about whether that #1 seed even has proper amateur status. But the favorite will have to get through some strong contenders.
A couple of coconut products, each with strong fanbases, duke it out in this close matchup.
Okay maybe neither of these is indispensable, but both sure come in handy. You only get to keep one as you stay the hell at home like a decent member of society.
A note on this matchup: My father, who has been a ghost on twitter for 3+ years, only following me and only followed by me, sent his first tweet yesterday to complain about ketchup's low seed.
Vinegar-Off! This one kind of smells like an upset...
Hot sauce was a trendy upset pick heading into the tourney, but this is a tough First Round matchup against another high-flavor team.
One of the more pleasant surprises of the Tournament so far has been the Fish Sauce Stans who were apparently waiting their whole lives fo their moment. Can a passionate fanbase carry the upstart past a juggernaut?
Two totally different playing styles collide in the 6-11 game. Sweet or savory? Both of these have upset potential in the later rounds.
Finally, the VEGGIES + DRIED FRUIT region, which is chock full of fiber and contenders.

If only these 1 and 16 seeds could combine you'd be on your way to a nice meal. Pick one.
Quite possible The Committee was hungry when it started making out this region's pairings. Again, we've got the start of a delicious soup here, but both can't advance!
I fear canned green beans... may have a tough go of this one.
Couple of meal bases that will go a long way here as your fridge gets low between runs to the grocery store, which you should do sparingly as you #FlattenTheCurve!
Fruit makes its first appearance! Unfortunately it may be a brief one for dried apricots, going up against a true pantry legend.
A Clash of Tomato Titans.
Canned corn is a severe underdog to the versatile canned tomatoes, a trendy Final Four pick that may have been an underseed. Let's see if it can put up a fight.
And our last First Round matchup is RAISINS vs. CRAISINS!
Okay, desperately need to get back to work. 24 hours to vote folks!
