honestly. the movie didn’t do as well as other karan johar movies & i get that it’s because of what it’s about. it’s not your average kuch kuch hota hai or yjhd kind of movie. it touches on infidelity & that is a sensitive topic to so many people https://twitter.com/1sttwoletters/status/1243246505827471361">https://twitter.com/1sttwolet...
ppl have argued about the movie portraying the wrong message, and i wouldn’t say that. instead the movie sheds light on an issue that happens in REAL LIFE. there are individuals that have been in that situation. i’m not saying what dev & maya did was right,
having an extramarital affair. it is never okay. if there isn’t love left between two people, do not hold onto it. do not feed something that has already died. but when you have a child in the picture, it gets more complicated. & i personally think they should have told their
partners as soon as it happened. the movie is based on events that happen to countless people everyday. you could be in control of 101 things but feelings aren’t one of them. you don’t get to decide when you’ll meet the love of your life. you could be 15, 30 or 55
and if you’re lucky enough to find that, why let go of it? why spend the rest of your days forcing yourself to feel something for someone despite knowing it happens effortlessly for the other? why would you want to miss out on something that is genuine?
so yeah. kabhi alvida naa kehna is one of the most realistic bollywood movies out there. way ahead of its time and quite controversial, but probably because it’s salt to the wound for some people.
