UTLA President Alex Caputo-Pearl said in his weekly address the union would "resist" what he called "onerous directives" and micromanaging by admin and Local Districts. UTLA is asking that teachers not be required to teach by live video such as Zoom and to set their own schedule.
He said admin should not sit in on Zoom classes. UTLA also doesn't want itinerant special ed providers to be directed to do anything without federal guidance. He also said teachers should not be forced to make detailed lesson plans.
UTLA sent a letter and is bargaining the terms of distance learning requirements with LAUSD.
