A lot of airbnb units are appearing as furnished rentals for 1-year (or shorter) terms. If you rent such a property, even if for a fixed term, remember that:
- if you don’t give notice, your tenancy continues after one year.
- you can’t be evicted to resume STR operations.

As an example, here are downtown Toronto airbnb listings in October, 2018. In that rectangle - roughly bounded by Strachan, Church, the lake, and Queen Street - there are 3,788 listings shown.

...and if you do rent what you suspect to be a former airbnb property, remember that the landlord/owner should use the Province’s standard lease agreement, and you are entitled to ask for a copy.
