For work today I got to compile articles of #Astronauts sharing tips for staying sane & healthy during #socialdistancing & isolation in these days of #COVID19. They're kind of experts when you think about it! So many GREAT pieces of advice! Here's a thread of some of my faves:
Probably my most fave is this @washingtonpost piece interviewing @Astro_Christina & @Cmdr_Hadfield. Great advice about staying connected & moving fwd like 'think of it like we're exploring a new planet' & 'set mini-missions for yourself' https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/03/25/astronauts-tips-coronavirus-isolation/
Or how about this great piece from @StationCDRKelly, who lived on the #ISS for a year? "Stay on a schedule... but pace yourself" because 'work has a way of taking everything over if you don't' = SO TRUE FOR ME! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/21/opinion/scott-kelly-coronavirus-isolation.html
And this advice from @AstroPeggy about remembering the "bigger purpose" of why we're in quarantine like it's our mission objective: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-social-distancing-advice-astronaut-peggy-whitson/
And THIS great thread from @AstroAnnimal about how @NASA's 5 "Expeditionary Behaviors" apply not just to space, but to life in general *especially* in times like these (SRSLY read this!): https://twitter.com/AstroAnnimal/status/1241799141321256960
Here's an @engadget piece on how @nasa keeps their astronauts safe and sane... definitely some takeaways for all of us "Astronauts together piloting Earth" right now! https://www.engadget.com/2019-07-19-nasa-astronaut-health-deep-space-missions.html
Okay one more: a nice @Forbes compilation of other @nasa_astronauts' advice on dealing with the social distancing and isolation: https://www.forbes.com/sites/valeriestimac/2020/03/20/former-astronauts-share-ways-to-cope-with-isolation--social-distancing/#278b605e1e18
To wrap: over 12,000 people applied to be astronauts in @NASA's 2020 Astronaut Class application window - during the COVID-19 impact across the globe! I wish them all luck & hope they're all getting some valuable learning & prep in now :) https://www.nasa.gov/feature/application-procedures-for-astronaut-candidate-program
