I've been fascinated with Mushrooms lately and did a dive in Pexels today in order to make myself a theme with slideshow backgrounds.

Photos are so fascinating that I wanna share with you all, so here's to a thread with gorgeous #mushroom pictures.

👇🍄🌱✨⚡️❄️
Probably some of the mushrooms here are poisonous. Have no idea which is which.

But Gorgeous they are for sure.
A lot of the photos are actually from the account of one Chris Gonzales

The places and forms in which they grow... magical✨
And some of them may really be... magical?

Like Santa Claus, Christmas, Siberian shamans magical Amanita Muscaria

But there are also ones, who are quite ordinary... for a mushroom.

And sometimes delicious.
They come in all shapes and forms. And colors and textures.
Neither a plant, nor an animal... but something... different.
Mushrooms are actually only the top fruit body of an entire organism.
Underneath them there is an entire network of fungi called a mycelium.
When the weather conditions are just right the mushrooms sprout in order to spawn the spores which would enable them to spread far and wide.
Mushrooms usually grow and die very fast. Often in the matter of several days.
And most of them love humidity and warm weather. Between 20° and 30° C.
Spring and autumn in sub-tropical and temperate regions are best. In the tropics, they're probably growing all year round.
Interesting is that a lot of them are recyclers. They grow on dead wood, cow dung and in areas that are in some kind of transitional stress.
I'm not sure why and how, but a lot of humans find them mesmerizing, beautiful, charming, gorgeous.
And the smaller ones, can be even quite cute...
A great resource on the topic of musrooms is @PaulStamets who has written quite a few books on the subject.

And here's an awesome interview of @PaulStamets on the @joerogan podcast.
You can find the mushrooms in so many places. In pop culture, children's books, video-games (Super Mario, anyone?), Alice in Wonderland.
And you can also check out the documentary @FantasticFungi which you could now buy or rent and watch from the comfort of your own home.
Here's a trailer:
