A little thread on why i think Neymar at Barça now might be a bit complicated.

Let’s take a look at Neymar and Messi’s heatmaps. These are from the 2014/15 season.
Clearly, Neymar was a pure left winger then and could form the famous MSN trio while being so. Messi, however, drifted centrally and was the main player on the team, the no.10

2016/17. Neymar’s last season at Barça. If you remember well, he started demanding to be more of a no.10 and drift centrally, the season was a bit of a failure and Neymar left after it. Ever since then, he was never the winger he was before. Messi still played almost same role.

2019/20. Neymar. Messi. No.10. Main player. Central. Playmaker. I don’t see how two who play almost the same role could fit in the same team. If he wants to come back he has to go back to his old self in order to fit in better, I doubt he’d agree.

I could be wrong obviously, and they could fit together, but they both demand the ball the most and are the MAIN players in their teams, Neymar is NOT the player he was at Barça anymore, and i highly doubt he could become that again.

I highly rate Neymar, for me he’s the best after Leo, and if he fit in well he would definitely be a huge improvement for the team and would definitely help us win trophies, which is why i’m not against his signing, i’m just not quite sure it will work the same again.

Oh and btw I still love Neymar A LOT bc he’s one of my fav players ever, what i said doesn’t change that.
