Why Anthony Martial is worth £70m in today's market [A short thread]
First of all, let's look at this season. Martial has been involved in 14 goals this season in the Premier League, with 11 goals and 3 assists. To put it into perspective, Luka Jovic and Joao Felix were both 70m at least and don't come close.
Let's look at big chances in the Premier League. This season, Anthony Martial has missed 8 big chances. Some of which have costed games, most of which haven't. Firmino for example has 19 this season and Aguero has 11. These are two of the most rated strikers in the Premier League
Next let's see shots taken in the Premier League. Raul Jimenez stands top with 99, but has 2 more goals than Martial. Martial has 60, showing he didn't get many chances at the start of the season. Putting it into perspective, every 20 Martial would get 4 goals but Jimenez 3 goals
Given the inflation in today's market, and how much strikers are going for, it's obvious to see he is valued at no less than 65, and 70 would be reasonable. Given he was played as a winger for 3/5 of his seasons, it's clear he'd be a good striker in a better team.
