Day 22

/6 There’s no doubt what we’re living through is unprecedented. But when I think about expectations for most of us – to stay put – I don’t think it’s that bad. Quarantine, flatten the curve, and this too shall pass. But then I think about those without that luxury…
/6 …those who put themselves on the front lines every day to fight this disease, selflessly risking their lives for others. I’m talking about doctors, nurses, EMT and any other worker who wakes up every day knowing that this could be the day they become infected.
/6 Our neighbor, Dana, is one of those people. A nurse at a local Bucks County hospital, Dana fills us in on the nightmare she lives every day, how terrible this disease really is and the sacrifices her colleagues are making so that others may live to see another day.
/6 To say the least, it’s humbling. And when I think about what I’m doing to help combat coronavirus – sitting at home, working, watching TV, playing video games, enjoying my family – it pales significantly in comparison, and I feel so … irrelevant.
/6 My daughter noticed I wasn’t myself the other day and I told her about this, and how I wished we could do more to help. She looked at me and smiled and suggested maybe we make some cards for the first responders, for Dana, and for all those people on the front lines.
/6 And just like that, it became arts & crafts time as my family and I created cards for Dana and her co-workers, the people who are making a difference in a world full of woe. These are the real heroes, and when this is all over we owe them the biggest damn parade ever. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="♥️" title="Heart suit" aria-label="Emoji: Heart suit">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙏" title="Folded hands" aria-label="Emoji: Folded hands">
