Ten acessible history books on the revolution now we are in quarantine:

1) On Another Man's Wound by Ernie O'Malley. Most entertaining memoir of the WOI.
2) Unmanageable Revolutionaries by Margaret Ward. First significant study of women in rev. and flows great.
3) John Dorney's history of the Civil War in Dublin, great local study but solid on the bigger picture too.
4) The Bloodied Field by Michael Foley on Bloody Sunday, centenary fast approaching!
5) Liz Gillis May 25: Burning of the Custom House 1921. A centenary that's ahead of us
6) A cheat answer but the 16 Lives series of biographies are all accessible and great reads. Especially enjoyed John Gibney and Honor O Brolachain's effforts.
7) Lorcan Collins very entertaining new guide to WOI.
8) Kieran Glennon's From Pogrom to Civil War on Belfast IRA
9) The Border by Cormac Moore, a new and important book that explains a lot you may be wondering about how all that happened.
10) Michael Lenihan - Cork Burning. The centenary of the burning of Cork is coming up.

These are all really good books for someone wanting to get into
the period. Got an email from someone who is at home for the forseeable future (aren't we all) asking for some suggestions, so here they are. Enjoy
