Hey all my laid off shordies. This is a really confusing and frustrating time so I’ll be sharing some of my discoveries to frequent questions/concerns in this thread. Please RT
Will update as I find answers.

How much is the GST credit and when will I get it?
You will receive TWO instalments. One is your regular credit on Apr 3 (amount varies), the second is a one-time emergency credit on Apr 9 (about $375, may vary not sure) https://twitter.com/CanRevAgency/status/1245496136263184386

How can I get CERB? What if I already applied to EI?
As of Mar 15, all EI applications are being processed as CERB applications. https://twitter.com/CanRevAgency/status/1245521054191280133

Do I have to wait until my EI is approved to start reporting?
No. As a matter of fact start NOW. A support worker on the Service Canada COVID hotline explained that since approvals are delayed, you should have your 1st report already done. You won’t be paid without a report.

Do I need to report even if we will be receiving CERB?
Yes. The sooner you report, the sooner you will be able to view your weekly CERB rate. It is higher than the 55% from EI. Many have already had their weekly rates increased to $500 this week: https://twitter.com/beth1814/status/1245375177338179589

Is CERB really $2000 a month for 4 months?
Yes. EVERYONE that qualifies for it gets $2000 a month, no more no less. https://twitter.com/servicecanada_e/status/1245773309704376321

Do I have to pay back CERB?
No. However it is taxable and the income tax has not been taken out for you. This means next year when you file your taxes, you will need to pay the income tax from your CERB. Please keep this in mind.

I applied for EI and got paid twice... is this a glitch?
No, just a surprise. Your 1st payment is actually back pay for the weeks you didn't work. Weeks are counted from sun-mon, so you might have received between $500-$2K. Your second payment is CERB ($2K) for April.

I applied for EI & CERB separately and got both... is this a glitch?
Yes & no. It’s not a glitch, you were only supposed to apply to one. Since you were automatically approved for both, you WILL need to pay back the $2K from CERB immediately because you DO NOT qualify for it. https://twitter.com/canrevagency/status/1247531564348534790

RE: EI/CERB
If you applied to EI *ONLY* and received two payments you are good (April $ + back pay)
If you applied to EI *OR* CERB and received one payment you are good (April $)
If you applied to EI *AND* CERB and received multiple $2K payments, this is an error

Yes you are the first scenario. This means you got CERB for the month of April, as well as $500 for each week of March you didn't work. Please verify that it adds up!
