In the same way, our public health interventions aim to slow down the number of new infections, so that the number needing hospitalization or critical care is not massive at one go. That way, our healthcare system can manage it better to avoid what we are seeing elsewhere.
It may not necessarily reduce the overall total number of infections by much but it enables us to provide better medical care to those who need it, resulting in better outcomes and less mortalities.
