thread on how we found out my grandma is actually chinese !
ok so up until i was sec 1 actually thought i was 100% malay but we came to find out that my grandma was left by her chinese family and adopted by a malay family
this is her family photo and as you can see, she looks different. she was adopted by her malay neighbours when she was born in 1943. she was born in the middle of ww2
more pictures of her. her whole family, siblings, cousins, aunts & uncles kept this a secret from her for so many years and it broke her heart when she found out
she found out through a DNA test. this was her reaction
what had happened was her chinese family gave her away during the war to save her life. dor those of you that dont know, many chinese were killed as they were suspected to be anti-japanese.
ok! that’s basically what happened. its a sad story because all the 30 chinese families in her kampong were killed by the japanese.
