Last year’s event was also held at @GNM_Hancock, a great venue for events like this and fantastic museum with an excellent #numismatic collection. The speakers were from the GNM plus @YorkshireMuseum, @museumonmound, @cwacmuseums and @britishmuseum! #numismatics #SSN #museums

I was very pleased with the turnout at this event @GNM_Hancock. There were #curators, #archaeologists, #conservators, collections management staff and museum #volunteers in the audience, but also #students from #NewcastleUniversity, all united by #numismatics! #ThrowbackThursday

Next up was @Monty_Liz from @cwacmuseums introducing the themes and innovative ideas put into the fantastic #Minted exhibition held at the #GrosvenorMuseum. This was a hugely popular display, and the ideas can be easily emulated in other #museums! #ThrowbackThursday #numismatics

This was followed by Doug MacBeath from @museumonmound on “M is for Money...” - talking about using #coins and #banknotes in education sessions with #schools, and introducing their new #science based #numismatic project! Such a fun and engaging talk! #ThrowbackThursday #museums

Then we had @YMT_Coins discussing the many innovative ways #numismatic collections have been used to engage audiences in #Yorkshire, either directly using objects or via online resources such as #Wikimedia. Inspiring stuff! #ThrowbackThursday @YorkshireMuseum @YorkMuseumTrust

People at these events often have questions about #conservation issues with #coins and #medals. We had Hayley Bullock, #metals Conservator from @britishmuseum, on hand for a talk all about this! Hayley also brought some corroded objects to show us! #ThrowbackThursday #numismatics

Last, but by no means least, was @OliviaWebster91 from @britishmuseum talking about her work on the #MoneyandMedals internship, which included a fascinating #NumismaticOdyssey of visits to English #museums with #numismatic displays! Love the #Hobbit reference there!
