Hello I& #39;m here to share what might seem like TMI but it& #39;s what I wish someone had told me about hymens (1/9)

TLDR: There are different kinds of hymen which can heavily affect penetration and cause a lot of pain. This includes septate, cribriform, and annular. If you think you have one of these, you can see your doctor about getting it removed. (2/9)
For years I thought my body was wrong because I found removing tampons painful, and I couldn& #39;t insert anything larger than a finger without intense pain. Now I had pretty good sex education and I knew that penetration is not supposed to hurt, However (3/9)
I thought I was an exception and that it was just gonna be like this, or that I just wasn& #39;t taking the time to get "in the mood" to be able to fit anything larger except that I Was taking the time. (4/9)
I discovered I had a string of thicker tissue across the entrance of my vagina, and thought this was a Regular hymen but I did realise that this is what was causing the pain. Turns out this is Not a Regular Hymen (5/9)
I did a lot of googling (seriously it took So Much Googling to find this without knowing what it was) (this was after considering cutting this tissue myself) and discovered that it& #39;s what& #39;s called a septate hymen, and that it isn& #39;t the only kind of "irregular" hymen (6/9)
I also discovered that the safest and most painless way of getting it removed is to See a Doctor! (Shocker, amiright?)
I really wanted to make this thread because I& #39;ve not seen anyone talk about this, and it caused me so much anxiety (7/9)

I see so many people saying that hymens don& #39;t cause you pain, that having it break is just a slight discomfort, but this is just not the case for some of us! Septate and other kinds of irregular hymens are incredibly painful to break through penetration alone (8/9)
People deserve to be informed about their bodies, and I wish I had been. I hope this has been informative :) (9/9)
