It’s so quiet at the hospital this week. The usually full to bursting oncology centre is a bit like a ghost town. The brilliant staff are continuing to administer radiotherapy (thank you thank you) and some chemo but the weekly bloods and consultations /1
Are now either done by phone or are on hold.

Folk can’t see their GP and maybe can’t access the tests and screening they need (we know that screening for certain cancers has been put on hold in part of the UK). /2
This means that potentially the thousands of people who get an early diagnosis of cancer are not getting that right now.

The potential knock on to lives and services will be devastating

we’re fortunate that his care is continuing (altered and accelerated but ongoing) /3
Not everyone has been as lucky.

I know being stuck at home can be hard.

I know you miss your friends and family.

I know you want to see those close to you who are also struggling

But please, please please #stayhome /4
#stayhome if you are fit and healthy and don’t need to go out.

#stayhome to reduce the pressure on our emergency services

#stayhome to speed up the return to normal for screening and treatment of life threatening diseases /5
#stayhome to save lives today, tomorrow, next week, month and year

#stayhome for me, for him, for your friends, family, neighbours, community

#stayhome for those working to protect us at, at high risk and great personal cost

Please. Please #stayhome

Thank you
