c2/This thread annotates @annieluet's talk from
"UCSF research response to Covid" Research Town Hall
All talks worth watching, but fairly technical.

That page has other good COVID resources, @UCSF is very open with quick updates, status, research.

c4/00:35 Current UCSF COVID Clinical Trials
Rapidly evolving situation.
RCT = Randomized Controlled Trial
ARDS = Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (i.e, already very sick, on or will be on ventilator)
c5/01:54 Remdesivir (currently enrolling)
Broad anti-viral activity in-vitro, vs SARS, MERS, Ebola
Does this do anything to help COVID patients?
5 RCTs enrolling.
c6/03:18 NIH Multicenter RCT of Remdesivir
IV formulation, no oral available now
Intervention is blinded (so patient & doctors don’t know)
They are evaluating other endpoints (ways to score results).
c7/(This is the description of trial in official database.
NIAID is the part of NIH whose Director is Dr. Anthony Fauci, recently well-known to public.

Very quick: from getting documents until start = 9 days(!)
c9/07:55 Adaptive Content
Additional drugs might get incorporated later.
Drug Y: active discussion, important that they can quickly incorporate.
(All this is set up to happen at unusual speed, people are trying very hard.)
c10/08:53 Coming soon
Hoping will enroll soon.
Much controversy around hydroxycholoroquine (HCQ), and whether it works, and if it will work, need to optimize dose.
