I really hope these four faces are remembered once this awful period is over. The first British doctors to have died of Covid-19, contracted while working on the frontline. All black or Asian men, and all with Muslim backgrounds.

That's really important to note because years down the line, when we're still picking up the pieces caused by this shitshow, while our economy is recovering and the health service is still trying to heal, some groups will blame people who look like these men here.

Those with brown skin, those who follow the Muslim faith, those born elsewhere.
While now it seems obvious that this pandemic is going to have far-reaching consequences, our collective memory is short.

Once we're in the middle of those consequences, when people are struggling to find work and it takes months to get a hospital appointment, the far-right and the enabling right-wing majority media will blame black people and foreigners. They always do.

More doctors, nurses & hospital staff will die in the UK. Every one of them will have done so making a massive collective sacrifice. So let's please ensure we show our gratitude not just now by clapping from doorsteps and sending lunches to them, but in the shaky years to come
