Based on county-level data from @nytimes, I put together animations showing the growth and spread of #COVIDー19 cases in March. Early on, cases were limited to a few areas, but as you can see the virus has spread throughout the country. Open thread to zoom in (1/6)
Zooming in to the Northeast, the number of cases exploded in New York City and surrounding areas, spreading from there. #COVID19nyc (2/6)
In the West the spread of #covid19 was much slower, despite higher initial counts in Washington, around Seattle. #TestAndTrace (3/6)
In the Mid-Atlantic, you see #coronavirus cases spreading from the DC area as well as the Philly suburbs in Delaware. (4/6)
In the South, there are several concentrated areas including New Orleans, Atlanta and South Florida. (5/6)
