Can’t believe some of the tripe I’m seeing on LinkedIn. Please, Learning & Development people, you DO NOT NEED TO CREATE COURSES TO HELP YOUR PEOPLE WORK FROM HOME! Certainly not with an assessment. Geez. Please STOP 🛑 this ludicrousness now.
Times like these call for empathetic approaches. Curate some great resources in different formats to cater for different access to tools and internet, digital and language literacy, accessibility options.
Connect PEOPLE TO PEOPLE. Those who can and have been working from home to coach, guide, mentor and support those who don’t. People in SIMILAR SOCIAL OR FAMILY CIRCUMSTANCES so they can offer appropriate suggestions and recommendations.
Enable managers to check in with their distributed workforce in a way that is something that everyone looks forward to in the week. Build in activities that allow for engagement and contribution from everyone.
Have the distributed workforce come up with their own tips (do you know you can create screencasts in Teams and have people record their own tips)?? Don’t let Learning & Development do this for them because on the whole - THEY DONT KNOW THESE EITHER.
Please for the love of god, (I’m not religious) but if you’re creating formal courses and assessing people at this time about a style of work for people - at their most vulnerable - it’s not empathetic, it’s rude and just plain WRONG.
