The ‘Crossover Kids’ Report has been released by SAC today https://bit.ly/2UOYD9S

It found:
-Crossover kids are children known to child protection (CP) & the justice system
-Nearly every crossover kid was involved with CP system before committing their first criminal offence
-While trauma & neglect has a detrimental effect on behaviour, the "experience of care itself may be a contributing factor for many children."

-Child protection could be involved with regional families earlier due to the lack of support services

-Crime prevention should mean supporting families with a proper safety net and funding services that intervene early to address a child’s underlying trauma to support children before they enter into the system.

-This is a billboard to #RaiseTheAge of legal responsibility from 10
-Headlines like this "Vulnerable 'crossover kids' transition from child protection system to a future of crime and incarceration" suggest this is inevitable.

It's not. Every 'crossover kid' is a failure of our policy, of our systems and services to not properly support them.
