He was diagnosed with strep throat and pneumonia, and he tested positive for COVID-19.
They admitted him and began treatment for the strep and pneumonia.

The strep cleared up, but the pneumonia worsened, and then he developed full-blown COVID-19 and was put on a ventilator. He was expected to die.
