Further there is no evidence to hold that Jaichandra had incited the attack. NO MUSLIM HISTORIAN mentions it (see IMAGES for references) and Prithviraj Rāso has no value as history of Prithviraj. Infact Rāso goes on to give false genealogical record of Chauhan family.

Putting contemporary Mahomedan evidence & Abul Fazal account together, it can be inferred that Jaichandra fought against Muslim forces valiantly & was wounded in battle. In order to avoid being captured led his elephant into Ganga & died by drowning in Ganga while crossing.

Some Indic Sources praising the King Jaichandra:

a) BHAVISHYA PURANA:

Jaichandra, the famous king of Kānyakubja-desa or Antarvedi was a powerful ruler (JAYACANDRA iti khyato bahusäli jitendriyah)," who conquered Gauda-Vanga and Marudesa.

b) PRABANDHAKOSA:

It says that JAYANTA CHANDRA conquered the earth as far as 700 Yojanas, as a result of which he was known as the king of 700 yojanas of land' (sapta satayojanabhunātho Jayantachandro).

He is also mentioned to have besieged & conquered capital of Gauda named Lakşanávati ruled by Laksansena (same as Laksamansena of Sena dynasty). Thus undoubtedly Jayachandra was a powerful ruler, great conqueror & patron of poets like Harsa author of Naişadhiya Mahäkävya.
