Campaigning only on social media is a tough task that can be frustrating and nerve racking!

1. I saw the tweets about “quality flyers”. My stance? IF I CAN READ IT - It works.
We always say we want to make student leadership more inviting and authentic... well why bash flyers when it’s REALLY about service? Yes, I believe in quality BUT ...

I also know it’s hard out here and if you can’t make your own flyers people charge BANK to make designs. AND this was WSSU’s FIRST year online campaigning. This is unmarked territory... If you didn’t have $$ to spend nor connections, THANK YOU for doing what you could!

2. Social media campaigning can feel SUPER judgmental. From one leader to another, stop checking your opponents likes and comments. STOP IT NOW. It’s hard, BUT walk in your purpose. Do YOUR best. Shine YOUR light. What is yours will manifest.

Don’t kill your self and your confidence comparing. It’s not fair to YOU! And IF there are haters, let them hate.

3. YOU CAN STILL MAKE CONNECTIONS! This online Ramily vibes are REAL. No, you aren’t able to talk face to face to your classmates BUT maximize the circumstance! Be creative. If creativity isn’t your strong area ASK FOR HELP. I know for fact @KVMBO and I will to help ANYONE!

4. To the ones who may feel student leadership is only a popularity contest... and isn’t set up for everyone to be apart - I GET IT! BUT people (including myself) have been and are trying to change that!! BUT we need YOUR help and ACTIVE support to do so.

5. ALL Students!! DO NOT BE FAKE. Yes, I said it. Social media allows people to hide and act “fake”/ “funny acting”. Listen to what the candidates have to offer and support who you are going to support!! Don’t be messy and nasty. Trust me, it will get back and it’s NOT cute.

For some yes, for some no. At the end of the day? Being authentic keeps you grounded. You will not please everyone so just BE YOU. ALL DAY EVERYDAY.
