OK HOLD UP.
I find it EXTREMELY strange that we never see Palpz acknowledge that Rey is his granddaughter. Which leads me to wonder: at what point did Rey Palpatine become a thing?
The first time we see Palpz, he calls Ben "my boy" - he claims ownership of him... (1/18)

This makes sense bc he's been grooming him since birth.
However, you'd think he would claim Rey in a similar way when she goes to him on Exegol. She's supposed to be his blood, his ONLY living descendant, and this is the very first time he's seeing her. (2/21)

You'd think he'd acknowledge this, call her "my girl" or something equivalent. Especially as he knows it's a source of pain for her & he wants to goad her into killing him out of hatred & rage. But he doesn't acknowledge the fact that they're related & neither does Rey. (3/21)
In fact, the only thing Palpz says re Rey's identity is this: "You are nothing. A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me."
WHAT?! If she's his granddaughter & the whole film is implying that THAT is why Rey is so strong with the force, this makes NO SENSE. (4/21)

The power in him IS the power in her??? So wtf is Palpz talking about. He's reiterating what TLJ set up - that Rey's biggest insecurity is that she's nothing, a nobody - and using that to get inside her head, which is a v Palpz thing to do. (5/18)
It would make sense if she rlly was "nobody" but she's not, she's his g-daughter. It feels rlly weird for Palpz to refer to his own blood as "nothing" & that her power is worthless, bc that's insulting himself, and also bc a few mins before he wants to Dark Union w her... (6/21)
& use her power to make himself stronger, which in itself acknowledges that she's super powerful? as does Palpz wanting Ben to kill her which implies she's a credible threat?
I get that he could just be name-calling but it rings false & hollow & bizarre given the facts.(7/21)

Back to Ben/Palpz on Exegol: Palpz refers to Rey as "the girl" & "The Jedi apprentice". Ok, fair enough, he's not made his Big Reveal yet. He then says, "She is not who you think she is".
BUT, it goes dark when he says "who". Which means it could easily have been "what". (8/21)

Yes, the scene ends w Ben asking, "Who is she?" but that could easily have been a reshoot.
We're led to believe that Palpz then told Ben that Rey is his g-daughter but we do not see him say this. Ok, sure, makes sense from a suspense point of view to leave us wondering. (9/21)

But the granddaughter element just feels... missing from so much of this film, in scenes where it feels essential.
PURE SPECULATION, but what makes more sense from the content of the film FOR ME is:
Palpz's Big Reveal to Ben is that Rey & Ben are a dyad in the force... (10/21)

and that Palpz was responsible for killing Rey's parents bc Palpz "saw what [Rey] would become".
The full truth is that Palpz recognised that she was the other half of Ben (whom Palpz was already grooming) in a dyad that had the potential power to destroy him... (11/21)

& he wanted there to be no way they could hook up to kick his ass. That's rlly why he went after her/why her parents had to hide her. But he doesn't tell Ben this bit.
Palpz tells Ben he has to kill Rey - his force equal - to prove he's worthy of becoming the new emperor.(12/21)

Ben is like "ok cool" but not rlly bc now he knows that he & Rey are a dyad, which only confirms his belief that they should be bf & gf.
But he's a dumbass so he's still like, "I'll tell her we're a dyad & that Palpz killed her parents... (13/21)

& this will make her join me on the dark side to kill Palpz". To Ben, it's a confirmation of & is consistent w his desire since TLJ's "proposal". It also explains why Rey sees her & Ben on the Sith throne in their force bond vision: it's Ben's vision of their future. (14/21)
The only info Ben gives her during their force bond fight is that Palpz hunted her down & killed her parents bc he knew something about her.
It's only in the hangar that Ben (w/ mask on
) tells Rey she's a Palpatine, but that Palpz doesn't know that they're a dyad. (15/21)

It feels weird to me that Ben somehow knows this & not Palpz, given that it's supposedly based on a Sith Eternal prophecy? Even if Palpz knew about the prophecy, it seems insane that he wouldn't put two & two together & realise that it referred to Rey & Ben. He's v smart. (16/21)
Palpz only realises that they're a dyad when their life force gives him a manicure. But we also know that this was one of the last shoot days so if Big Reveal = ReyPalpz-rather-than-dyad had been shoved in at the last minute, this scene could have been rewritten to match. (17/21)
Rey never mentions the fact that she's a Palpatine, we never even see her truly reacting to this earth-shattering news that redefines her entire sense of self. Which is either just shockingly bad writing, it got cut, or the ReyPalpz reveal was added in later. (18/21)
Obvs there is no way to know what went on during production/the edit. We do know that Terrio said he's never rewritten a script so much & that cast members would only get their lines on the day which implies there was rewriting going on during shooting. All I'm saying is: (19/21)
The actual content of the scenes + the possibilities created by reshoots/rewriting/rerecorded vocals etc means it all just starts to feel super weird, jarring & suspicious on a level that can't JUST be explained by a bad initial script. I KNOW it's v tinfoil tiara but... (20/21)
It just FEELS like there could well have been something else going on that possibly makes more sense w the scenes we got, and that the whole Rey Palpatine thing could have been shoved in at some point during shooting & the film was manipulated to try & fit w that. (21/21)
(Sorry this thread feels a bit jumbled, and I know a lot of it has been suggested before, but I'm just trying to make sense of it for myself. Which is probably a pointless exercise given that so much of this film doesn't make sense but HEY HO!)
