Hawé nikashinga!

We Kanza, Xúya shidozhinga. We Katherine migreche blín.

Hi everyone!

My English name is Katherine—I’m from the Kaw (aka Kanza) Nation, Xúya clan.

Normally you can find me over at @Seed_and_Stone or @cricketcrocker.

I am so excited to host this account!
This week I’m excited to share some of my work, processes, and techniques you might want to learn!

I won’t be sharing any of my traditional beadwork, because my family would be so upset if our designs ended up in U/rban Ou/tfitters.
I also want to do a big thread of products from Indigenous makers—these are hard times and everyone needs all the support they can get.

I’ll note in this “Indigenous maker” category, I mean global Indigenous, not just people Indigenous to what’s currently called North America.
I’m really tired right now, it’s been kind of an emotional day for me (I am fine, don’t worry), so I don’t want to try to organize the big thread til tomorrow—and I would like to have the thread go out over the weekend.

That said I’ll happily boost anything whenever—just @ me!
I did a little poll on Seed_and_Stone for what people would want to have me talk about, but I’d like to do it again, here!
I’ve also had requests to talk about
I am happy to talk about anything else that you want to add as a comment.

I need to go walk my dog and make dinner but I hope to come back later and share some photos of finished pieces I’ve made in the past.
Also, thank you to @BeadSpiller for inviting me to host and to @beadedchickadee for all her fantastic content over the last week!

Wiblahan tánga!
