What’s happening? It’s been 2 weeks why hasn’t it gone away yet? The death numbers in England are going to keep growing for about two weeks even if we have suppressed the epidemic- why? Because people dying now caught the virus 2 weeks ago- before even the start of lockdown

But why are critical care beds filling up? Because you get admitted and then need a long stay to recover- the beds are filling with people infected 2-3 weeks ago- and they will continue to fill for a few weeks more until more are discharged than admitted

But why aren’t the numbers testing positive going down? We are massively increasing testing, especially for those connected with the NHS, and with more tests comes more positives. This too will reduce over the coming weeks as less people get the infection and they pass it on less

So we don’t have to do anything different? Well we could care for the sick, shelter the vulnerable and stay at home if we’re able: in other words. Stick to the plan- Stay home.
