I’ve seen 2 stories now of elders who died b/c they opted to let younger patients have the ventilators & folks are responding with ‘hero’ and heart emojis, and ‘this is inspiring’ and that makes me extremely sad and uncomfortable.

Our elders should not have to make that call. We do not need to normalize that being a necessary decision. We do not need a surge of ‘heartwarming stories of sacrifice’-that sends our elders this message. There should be collective outrage. It’s not inspo, it’s sad y’all.
