Recently we saw a data-harvesting project pop up that looks a little shady. Here& #39;s what you should know about it #ableg (1/7)
This campaign to "thank Alberta& #39;s Medical workers" urges you to order a lawn sign from them. Proceeds do not go towards health care workers; the site claims that & #39;profits& #39; will instead go to local food banks. After all the UCP layoffs maybe that& #39;s where those workers will end up?
It& #39;s notable that the site says they will be donating the & #39;profits.& #39; If you dig into the terms, they make it clear that they& #39;re skimming into these donations to pay & #39;employee wages.& #39; How much are they paying themselves with your donation money? https://www.thankabhealth.ca/terms-conditions1585440020446">https://www.thankabhealth.ca/terms-con...
http://ThankAbHealth.Ca"> http://ThankAbHealth.Ca is built on a ClickFunnel backend, used by marketers to build lists of & #39;leads& #39; to send emails and ads to. What are they going to do with your information? No idea. As of April 1 the privacy policy on their site doesn& #39;t actually exist
When this site first opened and was endorsed by a collection of UCP MLAs and conservative operatives, we got suspicious immediately. So who& #39;s behind this thing? Global reports that it& #39;s former UCP nomination candidate Philip Schuman. https://globalnews.ca/news/6753105/lawn-signs-thank-alberta-medical-workers-covid-19-coronavirus/">https://globalnews.ca/news/6753...
Philip Schuman, operator of http://ThankAbHealth.ca"> http://ThankAbHealth.ca , was formerly in the news for trying to get big conservative donors to fund an alt-right Instagram account that posted anti-Semitic content and Nazi memes. https://pressprogress.ca/alberta-ucp-nomination-candidate-admits-he-offered-to-help-fund-an-instagram-group-that-shares-nazi-memes/">https://pressprogress.ca/alberta-u...
