A quick thread:
I've seen a lot of people posting about how distracted they have been and their inability to focus on a task, even an enjoyable one. Just so we are clear, I am putting myself on that list as well. Heres the deal...
Cut yourself some slack. Don't beat yourself up over 'I should be reading this book' or 'I should be doing X, because I have time.' Your brain is in survival mode. It is adapted and evolved to try and keep you alive as job number one.
Think about it. A pandemic is sweeping the globe, some grocery store shelves are empty, etc. What your brain cares about is protecting you and your family so it really isn't willing to expend energy on things that are trivial to the survival of your tribe.
It's okay, it really is. Allow yourself to focus on small things that feel helpful to those around you, as that will (hopefully) allow you to feel some measure of control in these wildly uncertain times.
Peace and love,
Mike
