CERB student eligibility has been touched on in the new Q&A document and it's not what some folks had been hoping for:

"For example if you are a student who had a job last year and were planning on working this summer you do not qualify for the benefit."
Why? This is what binds: "The Benefit is only available to individuals who stopped work as a result of reasons related to COVID-19. If you are looking for a job but haven’t stopped working because of COVID-19, you are not eligible for the Benefit."
It also means as many had anticipated that those who had the misfortune of being on the job hunt when the virus struck are out.
I'm perhaps turning into a broken record on this, but with the CERB details out there, it's time for provinces to step up and fill the gaps. We've got lots of CERB top ups floating around, but remarkably few gap filling measures.
On student eligibility, a number of folks have raised the fact that multiple parliamentarians told constituents that students would be eligible. They need to get out there and correct the record ASAP. We don't want folks going under because of bad information.
An important lesson if something like this happens again: put the politics aside and don't have caucus campaign on emergency measures. Let the finance minister be the voice on these measures so that the details are rock solid (in other words, treat them like tax policy)
