5SOS released their fourth studio album CALM 27th March 2020, but it doesn't start here.
23rd of May 2019, they released the lead single of the album: Easier. Easier did pretty good, it's the most streamed song of the album with over 200 million streams and 45 million views.
23rd of May 2019, they released the lead single of the album: Easier. Easier did pretty good, it's the most streamed song of the album with over 200 million streams and 45 million views.
Easier was being played everywhere and got a lot of attention. this new era was starting very well and everyone was very excited.
3 months later, 21st of August 2019, they released the second single: Teeth. Teeth didn't do as well as Easier but still did good with over 160 million streams. it also is part of the 13RW S3 soundtrack, which gave the song more attention.
by then everything was looking good and that the next album could have the same success as Youngblood, their previous album, did, but when they announced CALM and a new song, No Shame, things started to not go as expected.
5th of February 2020, 5SOS announce their fourth studio album CALM along a new single, No Shame. SINGLE. keep that in mind. two days later they released the music video for the song, one of the best videos of their career.
No Shame wasn't gaining as much popularity as the previous singles, but that wasn't something weird, sometimes it happens. but two weeks later they announced a new single, Old Me, which now is the official single, and the song is doing good, better than No Shame did...
nothing seemed out of place but wait. No Shame is a song in which 5SOS expose the entertaiment industry, showing how they treat celebrities like their puppies and how they're always under a mask.
and now, the song was supposed to be the official single, but their label never sent it it to the radio, instead 5SOS released the actual single two weeks later. and you may think: "maybe it was just a promotional single". why did they make a music video for it then?
a music video they worked really hard on. only for a promotional single? weird. and promotional singles don't get music videos either. however, now is when things start to get suspicious.
3 days after the release of CALM, 5SOS posted an statement on their social media, saying that 10,000 copies of their album had been shipped earlier, which made the album debut a week before it was supposed to.
let's also point out that they knew days before making the statement, because they didn't want to make their fans upset since it matters a lot to us.
why does it matter? basically because 5SOS had a debuting at #1 streak with their albums, being the only band (not vocal group) and Australian act to debut at #1 with all of their albums in the US, so it mattered a lot to them.
now is when things started to get clear. midweek 5SOS are predicted to be #2 behind The Weeknd for 10k sales. do those 10k sales sound familiar? they're the ones that had been taken away from them. https://twitter.com/chartdata/status/1245101292973891586
the most fucked up thing? a lot of other artists' albums have also been shipped earlier before and it didn't ruin their debut week, so why did it affect 5SOS? well, remember No Shame.
the band account also liked this tweet. JUST SAYING. https://twitter.com/Iovegraves/status/1244687744393043975
while all of this happening, the band did a Q&A in which when asked what was the song that summed up the best the album was No Shame... they know.
now let's talk about the spotify streams, which weren't suspicious at all until today, why? because every day i see more people steaming the album and the streams just keep going down. and everyone is streaming from playlists and the streams don't add up, no one is skipping songs
everything that is happening is so weird and it hasn't happened before, especially with those specific 10,000 albums. is all of this a reach? maybe. but these guys have been screwed over since the start of their career and what is happening is also a reach, it's crossing the line
and also, there has been a lot of celebrities who have tried to expose the entertaiment industry and also got fucked over. coincidence? i don't think so.
