Oh Happy Day! After learning many years ago that a bunch of Prince's recordings (esp NPG era) weren't available on Spotify, I never searched for them again. Turns out pretty much all his back catalogue was released in Aug '18! So now I have Gold, on repeat, and will have all day.

And yes that does mean that I've been streaming Gold on YouTube anytime I wanted to hear it for the last 5 years. The upside was it led to a rabbit hole day with my little girl a few years ago watching Prince videos and her marvelling at his While My Guitar Gently Weeps solo

Here's Gold for ya. Some say it's his Purple Rain of the 90s. Even has a sample in the background if you listen hard enough. Pound for Pound, probably my favourite Prince song. Not even joking. For me, it's just absolute Princely perfection.

Oddly enough if I usually tweet about non F1 stuff I'm told to stick to F1. So here's a Princely F1 Gold Nugget. Back in 2011, Lewis Hamilton paid $100,000 to charity for Prince's incredible gold Fender Strat, created by Belarussian Fender master builder Yuriy Shishkov.

Prince played the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in 2010. It is a regret I will take to my grave that when asked if I wanted to go to the gig I said, "nah, there'll be another time."

There wasn't, of course.

Prince loved the Hohner Tele. He had a few of them. It's the guitar on which he delivered possibly the greatest showstopper. What happened to it at the end only Prince really knows. I'd like to think it was waiting for him on a cloud when he got up there.
