In 1989, a waiter found a stray golden retriever in the woods in Yosemite Valley. The dog carried a pine cone and dropped it at the man's feet. The man threw the pine cone, and the dog brought it back. The man kept the dog. He named him Buddy.
Buddy learned to shoot hoops. He was on @AFVofficial (hosted by Bob Saget!) and then on David Letterman's "Stupid Pet Tricks" segment. Buddy and his owner were on @Letterman three more times, including once with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Buddy became a halftime sensation. He had a nose for the ball. So much so that he ran onto the court into a playoff game and got carried away by ... @DennisRodman!
Front-page treatment!
Buddy made buckets on Full House, too, as a one-episode guest star as Comet. (There's Bob Saget again!)
All of that to say, Buddy was a real dog. And a very good boy.

In 1997, Buddy became a movie star. He splashed shots. He dished out assists. And his friendship with @KevinZegers pulled on your heartstrings. So, here's an adorable oral history of Air Bud.
