48h into suspected COVID-19. Fierce fever, constantly dizzy, talking = v short of breath, and standing up to clean teeth meant 2h nap to recover. I am 40yo, marathon fit and by all accounts should be able to beat this, but it’s really horrible. Please please please stay inside.
72h update. Nights are worst - delirious, and breathing is harder - but generally heading upwards, if still red hot. Have been horizontal since Monday lunchtime barring teeth cleaning attempt! Miss my family on the other side of the bedroom door so much, but keeping them out/safe
Thank you for all of the thoughts and best wishes, especially from the running family ❤️ Incredibly grateful to saintly friends who brought a camp bed for my partner to sleep downstairs, and paracetamol for me 😘
Today’s update is more of the same. Not much better but not much worse. Very, very tired so resting lots. Someone on my street has started getting everyone dancing outside every day at 11am. Today it was Mr Blue Sky which I love. Have my windows open and will join in when better!
Drinking loads and loads of water, as per NHS recommendation, which really helps when temp goes up again and it’s not paracetamol time yet. If you have this or are caring for someone who does, please get a cool drink 💧
Day 8 update. Recovery isn’t linear. Have had better days followed by terrible nights, and vice versa. Fever still bad, and breathing v up and down. Saw Dr yesterday who reassured me to keep doing what I’m doing, especially rest rest rest.
The last week has been terrifying at many points. This is a hideous virus at any time, but the media coverage is hard to ignore (even having turned off all alerts on my phone). I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who’s checked in, checked up and offered virtual support x
Day 10 update. After a hideous night, symptoms much worse again, yesterday I was diagnosed with an underlying infection, now being treated with antibiotics. Hopefully sorting this out will give my body the strength it needs to fight off the virus and get me back on my feet 🤞🏻
Temperature is mostly down now and the horrible chills have gone, so really hope that the general trend is up from here on in! I miss my family so much. V grateful to the thorough, compassionate @NHS_BARDOC GP in full PPE who took time to provide excellent care yesterday x
Day 13 (!) update. Saw a temporary improvement with antibiotics, unfortunately followed by further downhill 😢 Still struggling with chest and temp, and not least with the mental impact of having been unwell for so long. Started a second stronger course today so🤞🏻
Day 15. The stronger antibiotics seem to have done the trick. Still a bit breathless but not blue, and my main symptom now is exhaustion. Time to rest rest rest with my lovely family who’ve been amazing throughout ❤️ Thanks for all of the support the last two weeks. End of thread
