Nigerians feel they're the only country in Africa that listen to music and anyone they don't rate is cancelled.

Perfectly explains our shock when Angelique Kidjo won the Grammy over Burna Boy.

We are the Americans of Africa. So ignorant of the realities outside our country
Like, we are entirely surrounded by French countries on all fronts for example. Cameroon, Chad, Benin, Niger et al

But ask an average Nigerian to name JUST ONE musician or popular music in any of those countries and all you'd get is silence or gibberish.
Yemi Alade is more popular than any female artist (in fact add the men) in these countries surrounding us.

Take it further sef. There are 31 Francophone countries in Africa. Add Swahili-speaking countries in the East, the South.

Yemi Alade is an undisputed QUEEN in all of them
And if you think the music taste of these countries are irrelevant in the "Afrobeat" conversation, remember they have won more international recognition (Grammies) than our dear Nigeria (currently leading with ZERO Grammies). You get my drift, right?
