Ministry friends, whatever you were planning to do this Spring before the pandemic, throw it away. Pray. Start from scratch about how to accomplish your mission in a brand new way.

The majority of our old methods (no matter how effective they were in December) are useless now.
I *DO NOT* have the answers but here are some steps we& #39;re taking:
1. Grief (list out everything that you loved to do personally and professionally that you can& #39;t do anymore.) Don& #39;t rush this stage. Be angry, feel it. How can we lead grieving people if we don& #39;t grieve our losses?
2. Be prepared to just try something. We& #39;re about to release stuff that might be amazing, or it might flop. If it flops, I& #39;m going to look at our losses like tuition, you have to pay to learn lessons, but they prepare you for the future. h/t to @nickoparsons for "tuition concept"
3. Learning from outside our tribe: "Missional" friends are mainly thinking about connection of existing members to the detriment of evangelism. "Evangelistic" friends are thinking about evangelism to the detriment of meaningful connection.
4. Switching from theater mentality to on screen mentality. Everything we produced before January was directed at an in-person audience, and recorded for people who "missed it". I& #39;m planning to re-shoot all the discipleship tools we offered in person to be optimized for online.
5. H/T to @tylerchernesky for #4 and #5 on this, but I& #39;m looking at my favorite Youtubers for how we should shoot classes on how to read the Bible. We won& #39;t be *this* dope, but I& #39;m aiming at my favorite YouTuber, @MKBHD in terms of feel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_R-qzjZrKQ">https://www.youtube.com/watch...
6. Giving ourselves grace. It& #39;s hard enough to LIVE through this in NYC, let alone LEAD through this. Normalize struggle, both personally, interpersonally, and organizationally. We& #39;ve never been here before. Why would we expect everything to go smoothly?
7. Create a new structure. We don& #39;t work near each other anymore so our staff meets 2X a week now instead of once. Thinking of having a daily 30 minute window when I& #39;ll be on zoom for anyone who wants to pop on and talk to me. I don& #39;t know what& #39;s best so I& #39;m trying new things.
What am I missing?!
