One of the things I've been worrying about during this time of the #CoronovirusPandemic is making sure that Indigenous people actually get counted in statistics.
This is because historically and currently, we frequently are not counted. #NativesCount

My concern about Indigenous people being counted during #COVID19 stems in part from the early years of the AIDS/HIV crisis. Native people were literally not counted at all. There wasn't even a box that doctors/health agencies could tick off for "Amer Indian." There was "Other."

Back in the 80s, we had to fight to be included in statistics about AIDS. Lots of Native people died without being counted as Indigenous, esp. in urban centres such as San Francisco & NYC.
