Day 7 : Maa Majhighariani
Maa Majhighariani Temple is an important shrine in the Rayagada district of Odisha.  It was built by King Bishwanath Deba Gajapati of the Suryavanshi dynasty of Nandapur - Jeypore kingdom. https://twitter.com/ashishsarangi/status/1244656383019999234
It is believed that he shifted his capital to Rayagada from Nandpur and after the construction of the temple and blessings of the goddess he went on to conquer a vast dominion and expanded his kingdom from parts of Bengal to Telangana in south.
At Nandapur she was Narayani and after shifting, she was installed in the middle of the Rayagada fort. It was how Narayani is said to have been called Majhi Ghariani which later has taken a corrupt form of Majji Gowri or Majhi Gauri.
Many people come to the shrine including from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh. Legend says Devi is worshipped from centuries but the temple is a new one. Every Sunday, Wednesday & Friday, temple draws a large crowd from nearby area.
Dussehra & Chaitra parva is most famous festival.
