#Thread As many of you know, I collect German photos from both the world wars. In that colletion, there is a small topic I tend to look out for and that is German soldiers in the Second World War visiting the frontline and monuments of the first. So here are some of my favorites:
The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme
The German cemetries were not forgotten. This is Neuville-Saint-Vaast.
Langemarck.
The Monument Aux Soldats Français at the Kemmelberg, better known as 'Den Engel' or 'The Angel'.
French Cemetery at La Targette, near Arras.
Vieil Armand or better known as Hartmannswillerkopf
Unknown location, clearly a CWGC cemetery. Shot is out of focus sadly.
The Infantry Memorial of Brussels
The Tannenberg memorial, Paul von Hindenburg was burried here as well until 1945. The site was destroyed in 1945 by retreating German troops.
The Alsace-Lorraine monument in Compiègne. On of the few monuments that got covered in German flags, due it showing a German eagle being impaled.
The Mausoleum of Mărășești in Romania.
