As someone who was raised by a single mother and a grandmother, who worked together as a unit (along with wider family/community) to raise us, it& #39;s so interesting watching discussions that pathologise Black women who refuse partnership as "failed mothers"
It& #39;s fascinating as the possibilities of mothering are quite literally curtailed under the regime of the (white patriarchal) nuclear family. A project that prioritises capital over the expansiveness of family, and one that seeks to disrupt affective bonds within Black communities
