If I start (from tomorrow) wearing a different pair of earrings each day, I wonder which will happen sooner, quarantine ends or I run out of earrings?
Day 1: An earring a day - the 1st of a new month so I begin with a pair that I’m wearing for the first time. I believe these were a gift (as so many of my earrings are).
Day 2: Iron transfusion day & 2nd day of #AnEarringADay. I wanted something simple & familiar. This pair from Kenya gifted to me by @JWambuiKaranja has been in my collection for a while and is a perfect representation of simplicity and familiarity.
Day 3: This is a slightly different but appropriate one. The day after iron transfusion, I’m exhausted, unable to get out of bed. I checked Twitter & see these lovely messages from @aleyakassam. The earrings she made me are technically not “in” my collection (1/2)
Day 3: (cont) but they form a part of my collection. So today’s #AnEarringADay embodies what we are living through now; finding joy in midst of uncertainty, adapting to very real but virtual/digital ways of connecting as we practice physical distancing.

Asante Aleya. (2/2)
Day 4: Oldest pair, given to me in ‘95/6 by the aunt who introduced me to big bold dangly earrings. 25 yrs with a brief separation. 1 earring in UK, other “lost”. 2 yrs later, our parents home in Kenya, reunited with other half. Hold on to uncoupled earrings. #AnEarringADay
Day 5: The prize. Our feminist book club won a range of goodies in an Int’l Women’s Day 2017 quiz. Rewriting thesis intro/lit review. Spending a lot of time with book in pic 2. Both, a reminder of how, why & where I write from - a black feminist life. #AnEarringADay
Day 6: I bought it. Grateful for friends/fam feeding my habit. Rarely buy my own earrings. This pair I bought in Nigeria. They broke, got superglued back (more than once).

Never discard broken earrings. #AnEarringADay
I forgot to inlcude yesterday’s #AnEarringADay as part of the original thread https://twitter.com/kuikihoro/status/1247502778274058241?s=21 https://twitter.com/kuikihoro/status/1247502778274058241
Day 8: Shape shifting: @mizzlywizz noted that nearly all the earrings I’ve posted so far have been round/circle shaped. So today I’m going for this rectangle, abacus looking pair. Again, a gift from Kenya. #AnEarringADay
Day 9: Africa Oyé - An annual, free, weekend long celebration. On our doorstep. The music, the food, the vibes, the vendors, the fashions, the Blackness. It is always so much fun. This is where I bought these earrings. #AnEarringADay.
Day 10: I keep forgetting to thread these tweets! Arrrgh!

Day 11, 12, & 13: Heavy - Between April 11-13 I didn’t wear any earrings. So, I’m submitting the 3 pairs I can’t wear. They are too damn heavy. Something I only discovered once I bought them. I may eventually convert them into pendants cos I love them. #AnEarringADay
Day 14: Solo Dolo - Waited years for this pair, finally in 2015 @JWambuiKaranja (Earring Enabler in Chief) got me a pair. I wore them the same day. Around lunchtime, Joyce pointed out that I had one earring on. The other lost somewhere in the streets of Vienna. #AnEarringADay
