I don’t think people realize how bad it is in the northeast. I live in Monmouth County in NJ. We currently have 1033 cases of #coronavirus out of a population of 618,795 people. A week ago, we had 243 cases.

We currently have more cases than 29 US states and Washington, DC.
These are just the symptomatic people who have been tested. Due to limited test kits, we’re not even testing for asymptotic cases in NJ. It’s still very difficult to even get tested, if you have symptoms.

The true number of cases is likely several orders of magnitude greater. 2/
Other parts of #NJ are much, much worse. NYC is a hellscape. We will run out of ventilators and ICU beds far sooner than you think.

So, if you’re sitting pretty in a state with less cases, please for the love of god, #StayHome. Don’t go out. At all. 3/
Not even testing for asymptomatic cases* 4/

(*quietly curses Apple’s autocorrect*)
And today, we're up to 1,140 positive tests in Monmouth County. There are 18,696 cases in NJ. 267 people have died in the state, including 69 of them yesterday.

It's only going to get worse.

(My family is safe and fine, currently. Please #stayhome. Please.) 5/
And when I mention that other parts of #NJ are worse, I really do mean that. We may have 1140 positive cases, but in Bergen County (50 miles north of me) there are 2909 cases. You can trace the NYC commuting pattern by cases per county, at this point. 6/
(Actually, today’s number is 1163, and no, I’m not sure why there are discrepancies in reporting the number.)

I will say that although people are still getting infected in the suburbs, which is most of our county, it seems to be a slower rate than higher density areas. 7/
