Coronavirus: Millions of garden plants set to be binned

This is a tragedy. I know it’s not quite on the scale of coronavirus itself, but it’s still terrible.

I really want plants (and compost!) and can’t get them, and millions are going to be binned. 😭 https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52098436
I’ve just sent an email to my local garden centre, saying that if they have to throw plants away, throw some in my direction, and I’ll pay for them when they’re legally allowed to trade again. I doubt it will work, but it’s worth a try. I hate seeing plants getting binned.
You‘d think our government would be encouraging garden centres to stay open. If off-licences are considered essential, so should they. Plants, flowers and gardening calm the mind, and help wildlife. Fruit, veg and herbs could ease pressure on supermarkets. Closing them is crazy.
