mortgage is, of course, only part of a given landlord’s costs. The article doesn’t mention property taxes, other taxes eg business taxes, utilities, management costs, maintenance such as cleaning or landscaping, repairs, etc.
I’m not saying anyone should feel sorry for landlords. Some have made piles of money in the last 10 years and in general shouldn’t be coddled. But our electeds should be clear on what they’re doing.
