BOOKSTORES OF THE PLANET EARTH! Or, well, bookstores of mostly North America.

We know that you are suffering under quarantine, and I would like to do what little I can to help! So I am doing my first ever PRE-ORDER CAMPAIGN for independent bookstores.

If you would like to participate, and you are an independent bookstore, meaning you belong to an independent bookstores organization, with a physical storefront of some sort that is being endangered by COVID-19...

...please email through my website indicating that you intend to take pre-orders for A KILLING FROST, and we will put you on a list. (It would be great if you could also tell us how many pre-orders you expect, based on sales of earlier books.)

We will then email the list a week before book release to check how many pre-orders you have, and then send you some of these pins to send out as freebies for anyone who has pre-ordered a book.

The pins will not be watermarked, obviously. They are also super-limited, as I am paying for them now for a book coming out in September, and can't estimate numbers, but this is a good way for you to do something nice for your readers, and for me to do something nice for you!

This is opt-in for bookstores; no one is going to force you. @borderlands_sf has already said they'll be participating, and I hope many others will as well, but I don't have a way to contact every indie bookstore with an SF/F focus.

Because people have asked: no, these pins will not be for sale. If you want one, you must pre-order a copy of the book from a participating bookstore.

Hey, so, people are asking me, after reading this thread, "How do we get pins?" Here is how:

1. Be an independent bookstore.
2. Email through my website contact form.
3. When asked, tell us how many pre-orders you sold.
4. Receive pins via mail about a week later.

That's it!

But--and this is VERY IMPORTANT--that's also THE ONLY WAY. Telling me on Twitter that you want pins? Nope. Emailing my publisher directly? Nope. Breaking into my house? Nope, they aren't here yet.

I am resurrecting this thread ONE LAST TIME to say that if you are an independent bookstore and want pre-order pins, your window is closing. We shut the list tomorrow. @ThirdPlaceBooks? @ubookstoresea?
